The Heights

Lead me to the lakeshore, where no one even dares to try
All I could row is a beached sailboat
Another long lecture, in hope my idleness would die
Have I swore to apathy an oath?

Bring me to this forest, where no one ever saw the light
All I would see is sequoia tree
Some place where I could rest, it’s all I pray for in the night
Am I a case for psychiatry?

Push me into this cave, where no one found the strength to leave
All I should watch are shadows on walls
Like a self-will to waive, I have my own spirit to grieve
Can I ignore all that will befall?

The day I am ready, if it ever comes to myself
All I will do is climb my way out
And I will stand steady, I shall wait for something to delve
On this mountaintop without a doubt
